Councillors Meet Mayor, Show Concern Over Pending Works | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: After a gap of more than one week, mayor Ballkar Sandhu was seen at zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday where the councillors met him and showed concern about the pending development works in their respective wards in the absence of finance and contracts committee (F&CC) meeting. They rued that if works would not get approval, then how these would start in time, especially road works. The mayor assured them to conduct a meeting of F&CC next week and one house meeting immediately after that.
The civic officials claimed that many works are pending and work orders for various works are also in the list of resolution. In case the meeting happens in first or second week of September, they would be able to move ahead with works or else public will suffer as road works can take place till November after that winter season will set in.
One of the councillors. who met the mayor claimed that mayor has assured he would conduct the meeting shortly and all pending resolution will be cleared.
Meanwhile, the mayor refused to comment anything about vigilance issue and assured no development work would get affected and meetings would be scheduled shortly.
Notably, since the mayor was also given a notice by the vigilance bureau in the transportation tender scam in which former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has been made accused, he has not been coming to any zonal office of civic body. He along with Congress councillor Gagandeep Bhalla, who is also close to former cabinet minister were asked to submit certain details.
