Corona in Punjab: Infection rate decreased in third wave, but death figures raised concern

In the third wave of corona, there has been a decline of 15 percent in the infection rate in Punjab in the last 25 days, but the number of deaths due to corona is increasing instead of decreasing. In the month of January, 608 people died due to infection in the state, while the infection rate was recorded up to 19.75 percent. There has been a decrease in the rate of infection since January 20, but the increase in the graph of deaths has increased the concern of the health department. The state government has given instructions to increase strictness in the affected districts.

According to the Punjab Health Department, till Wednesday, samples of 1,78,91, 375 people have been taken in the state, out of which 7, 46, 837 people have confirmed the infection. So far 17320 corona patients have died in the state. 17750 active cases have been registered. According to departmental data on Wednesday, out of the total infected admitted in hospitals, 894 people are having trouble breathing. Only 270 infected have been kept in Critical Care Unit 3 due to no improvement in their condition. The condition of 80 patients remains critical.

23 died in 24 hours, 1730 new infected found
In the last 24 hours, 23 infected people have died in the state. These include Amritsar-2, Bathinda-1, Fatehgarh Sahib-2, Firozpur-2, Hoshiarpur-4, Jalandhar-1, Kapurthala-1, Ludhiana-3, Muktsar-1, Pathankot-1, Patiala-1, Ropar-1, Sangrur-1, Tarn Taran-2 people have died. 1730 new infected have been found.

608 died in January
In January, 608 infected people died in Punjab. Apart from this, more than 1.38 lakh new cases of infection have been reported. However, the good thing is that out of the total infected, more than 1.15 lakh people have been cured.

The lack of reduction in the number of deaths is worrying. Now the districts where death cases are coming have been marked. Instructions have been given to the officers of the concerned districts to increase the strictness.
