Lokesh Kanagaraj announced the title of his film with Rajinikanth on Monday. The filmmaker revealed Thalaivar 171 will officially be called Coolie. He also shared an action-packed teaser. While fans are eager to see what Rajinikanth and Lokesh have in store for them, it seems like Rajinikanth’s fee for the film has been revealed. If reports are to be believed, Rajinikanth has charged a jaw-droppingly big sum for the film.

If reports by KoiMoi and DNA India are to be believed, Rajinikanth has charged Rs 260 cr to 280 cr for the film. If these claims are true, this would make the Tamil superstar as the highest paid actor in Asia. News18 couldn’t verify the claims at the time of publishing. The makers have also not reacted to the claims.

On Monday evening, Lokesh dropped the Coolie title teaser. The video began with several gold smugglers checking on their inventory of bars, watches, jewellery and other items. Soon, Rajinikanth breaks into their lair and thrashes them using a chain made of gold watches. The video ends with Rajini whistling Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is in a combination of gold and black.

Coolie is set to go on floors soon. The film is directed by Lokesh while Anirudh Ravichander has been enlisted to compose the music. Thalaivar 171 also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Ranveer Singh and Parvathy Thiruvothu in key roles. Vijay Sethupathi is also reportedly in talks with the director Lokesh to play a pivotal role in Thalaivar 171. Also, there are rumours that Shah Rukh Khan may play a cameo role in this film.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is also working on Thalaivar 170, officially titled Vettaiyan. The film is being helmed by T J Gnanavel. It stars Rajinikanth as the protagonist, with an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, and Rohini. It is being produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. The music in the film is being given by Anirudh Ravichander, while S R Kathir is the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj is doing the editing. As per the reports, the film is expected to release this year.
