According to the complainant, Johrimal, constable Praveen has been harassing her for some time and has also threatened her and her family. Johrimal alleged that he lodged several complaints with the local police station, but the police refused to take action against a fellow policeman. He said the FIR was finally registered on Monday after the intervention of senior police officials.
On August 30, Johrimal and his nephew Hari Krishna went to Manesar for a meeting. After the meeting, he was standing in front of the office of a property dealer in Sector 1, Manesar, when a car stopped near him. Five people were sitting inside the car. One of the people sitting in front allegedly attacked Johrimal with the edge of a broken glass.
“My uncle narrowly escaped, while my hand was injured by broken glass. Later, my uncle told me that one of the people who attacked us was a policeman.
Johrimal, a resident of Pachgaon, alleged that Praveen had also sent some criminals to threaten him. “He used to go to the street where I live in police uniform, harass and threaten me,” the businessman said.
Johrimal claimed that he and his family were living in fear because of Praveen’s threats. “He even hired a contract killer to eliminate me. We came to know about it when recently a video of a cop bragging about hiring a killer started going viral on social media.
In the video, which appears to have been recorded a few months back, Praveen is seen in casual attire with a Haryana Police cap on his head. He is seen talking about hiring a contract killer for Rs 5-6 lakh to eliminate the businessman. In the video, the cop also says that he has asked the killer to carry out the murder and assures the latter that he will take care of the police investigation.
“Despite repeatedly filing complaints with the local police, no action was taken and the constable kept harassing me. Finally, I approached senior police officers with the video. On Monday, a case was registered against four people, including the policeman, for assaulting my nephew and me.
An FIR has been registered against Praveen and his associates Hukum Chand, Tej and Naveen as well as another person, who is yet to be identified, under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt) and Has been done. Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC at Manesar Police Station. DCP (Manesar) Varun Singla said, “A case has been registered and investigation is on.”
