Ashok Gehlot on Sunday claimed that he was saved from the 2020 rebellion because BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal refused to support a conspiracy to topple his government.

A fresh political uproar is brewing in Rajasthan in the run-up to elections later this year, with BJP leader Vasundhara Raje alleging that Ashok Gehlot’s praise for her is part of a conspiracy against her.

Chief minister and veteran Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Sunday praised Raje, saying she helped save his government during the Sachin Pilot rebellion of 2020.

Gehlot also accused Home Minister and BJP mastermind Amit Shah of playing political drama and said that he conspired with Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Dharmendra Pradhan to topple his government.

Raje, however, dismissed Gehlot’s remarks at the Dholpur rally as a conspiracy and also criticized Amit Shah for accusing him of dirty politics.

In response to Gehlot’s allegation against his party leadership, Raje said, “Ashok Gehlot is lying out of fear of defeat in 2023. He has accused Home Minister Amit Shah, whose honesty and integrity is well known.”

Gehlot on Sunday claimed that he was spared the 2020-revolt of some Congress MLAs because BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal refused to support a conspiracy to topple an elected government through money power.

He further said that as the state party chief, he too did not support the toppling of the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat-led BJP government as it was unfair, similarly, Raje and Meghwal said that there is no tradition of toppling anyone in Rajasthan. Is. elected government.

Raje is a former chief minister of Rajasthan and is believed to have good professional relations with Gehlot.

Both the leaders were repeatedly accused of being soft on each other on the political front despite being in opposite parties.

His then deputy Sachin Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs revolted against his leadership in July 2020. The month-long crisis was ended after the intervention of the party high command. After this, Pilot was removed from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President.
