Uttarakhand Congress working president Bhuvan Kapri is upbeat for a reason.
Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami lost even after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power in the state. Khatima constituency against Kapri by a margin of 6,579 votes.
BJP will return to power in the state with 47 MLAs and 44 per cent vote share. However with the defeat of the Chief Minister, the BJP will have to choose a new leader of the BJP Legislature Party to head the next government.
Sources say it could be either All Or any of the newly elected MLAs. Kapri had lost to Dhami in 2017.
While the party is looking into the reasons for Dhami’s defeat, Kapri claims that people are looking for a “leader of 24×7 mode”.
Asked if he is disappointed that he will take the field despite winning Khatima Oppose Within the state assembly, he said, “Politics demands round-the-clock surrender. I feel Congress There is a need to work hard and fill the gaps in the coming five years.”
Through the ranks of NSUI – the student wing of the Congress – Kapri’s forays with politics began in 2001 when he joined team, The son of a sweet meat shop owner, he helped his father, but remained involved in college politics.
A few months before the election, he was appointed as the acting state president of the Congress, a move seen as a balancing act between the “warring factions” of the party.
