The Congress and the NCP on Wednesday accused the Narendra Modi government of looting the poor as petrol and diesel prices were hiked again. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 80 paise per liter on Wednesday, taking the total increase in prices to Rs 10 per liter in 16 days.

Modi government is looting the poor through increase in fuel prices! Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole tweeted, “Petrol-Diesel prices increased by 80 paise today, by Rs 10 in two weeks. Patole called the BJP government a pickpocket.

NCP spokesperson Clyde Cresto also took to Twitter to hit out at the BJP, terming the saffron party a ‘lootjeevi’ (which thrives on loot). Taking a jibe at the BJP, Crasto shared a cartoon in which he likened the party to a cowboy holding fuel pump nozzles in both hands and training them towards a common man, who died in fear. Hand was raised.

In place of the cowboy’s face shown in the cartoon, the BJP’s election symbol is a lotus. Petrol and diesel prices hiked, tweeted Cresto. The NCP and Congress are constituents of the Shiv Sena-led MVA government.
