Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reaches Kerala on 3-day constituency tour

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi He arrived in Kerala on Friday on a three-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Wayanad, during which he will participate in various programs including the building of a Kisan Bank and the inauguration of a UDF Bahujan Sangam.

Elaborate security arrangements were made for Gandhi’s visit amid tension in the state over the alleged attack on the AKG Center, the headquarters of the ruling CPI(M) in Thiruvananthapuram.

The ruling Left party has accused the Congress of being behind the “bomb attack” at the Centre.

Congress leaders led by state party chief K Sudhakaran received Gandhi at the Kannur International Airport as his flight landed there at around 8.30 am.

Party sources said that the Congress MPs will reach Manantvadi in Wayanad at 12.15 pm.

His visit to the constituency also comes a week after his office in Kalpetta in Wayanad was vandalized by activists of the ruling CPI(M)’s student wing SFI.

He will return to Delhi from Kozhikode on Sunday.

Last week an SFI protest march against Gandhi’s office in Kalpetta, alleging his inaction on the issue of eco-sensitive zones around forests, turned violent as a group of activists allegedly attacked a Lok Sabha member. Entered the office and ransacked it.
