Congress high command contemplating changing guard in Punjab – World Latest News Headlines

Political activity was witnessed at the Punjab Congress here hours before AICC-appointed observers Harish Chaudhary and Ajay Maken and Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat arrived here for the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting.

Though there is no official confirmation, the agenda of the CLP meeting convened by the party high command is to elect a new CLP leader in place of Captain Amarinder Singh. The legislators are likely to approve a single-line agenda authorizing party president Sonia Gandhi to elect a new leader.

The Congress high command has called a meeting of Punjab CLP today amid growing discord in the party.

In such a situation, the party high command asks the CM to give his papers before the CLP meeting. It has to be seen how things unfold during the day,” a senior leader informed about the developments.

If all goes well, the new leader will be elected today. The names of Sunil Jakhar, Pratap Bajwa and Sukhjinder Radhawa are in the news.

For the last few days, the anti-CM camp is engaged in mobilizing the MLAs against the CM.
