Congress: Congress fielded 5 women candidates from Prayagraj, neighboring districts. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: With the Congress The party has given adequate representation to women candidates while releasing its first list of 125 candidates for the assembly elections beginning on February 10. Names of party candidates from eight assembly seats out of 125 assembly seats Prayagraj And the neighboring districts have also been announced and Congress has given tickets to five women candidates.
Congress has announced its candidates for 8 seats out of 22 assembly seats in three districts- Prayagraj (12 assembly seats), Pratapgarh (7 assembly seats) and Kaushambi (3 assembly seats).
Aradhana Mishra will contest from Rampur Khas, Bina Rani will contest from Babaganj (both in Pratapgarh district), Durgesh Pandey will contest from Phaphamau and Alpana Nishad will contest from Allahabad South, where Nishad has a large number of votes. Similarly, Manju will be the face of the party from Sant Bara (SC) assembly seat.
According to the list of 125 candidates released by the Congress party, the other candidates will be Neeraj Tripathi from Pratapgarh, Arun Kumar Vidyarthi from Manjhanpur (SC) and Anugrah Narayan Singh from Allahabad North.
Congress party candidates Rampur Khas Aradhna Mishra Mona alias Mona is fighting to retain this assembly seat, considered a Congress stronghold. Mishra is the sitting MLA from here.
From another assembly seat in Pratapgarh, Congress will field Bina Rani from Babaganj. The seat is represented by Vinod Kumar (Independent) who defeated BJP’s candidate Pawan Kumar in the 2017 elections.
In terms of 12 assembly seats of Prayagraj, the party has announced its candidates for four assembly seats, out of which three have been given to women candidates. The party has fielded Durgesh Pandey from the Phaphamau assembly seat. the former District Panchayat Member, she is the wife of District Congress General Secretary Ashish Pandey.
From Allahabad South, the party has given ticket to Alpana Nishad, a member of the city’s Mahila Congress and a councilor from the city’s Daraganj locality. Similarly, Manju will be the face of the party from Sant Bara (SC) assembly seat.
“By fielding women candidates in five of the eight assembly seats, our leader Priyanka Gandhi has shown that the Congress party always delivers on its promise. She had said that 40% of the candidates in the assembly elections would be women, and she would do the same and our party would win the election”, said Kishor Varshney, working member of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC).
