The deceased was Swami Ameyananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Mission. He was 90 years old at the time of his death. He breathed his last in Ramakrishna Mission Seva Sangathan at 8 pm on Sunday night. The news of his death was announced by issuing a notification from the Math. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condoled the demise of the veteran sadhu.
According to Ramakrishna Math, the body of Sadhu Swami Ameyananda will be kept in Belur Math on Monday from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm. There tribute can be paid to the late Maharaja. His fans and followers will be able to see him there for the last time. His last rites will begin at 9 pm on Monday at Belur. Swami Ameyanandji was the principal of Dhaka Ramakrishna Math as a monk in 2011.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a condolence message on the death of Swami Ameyananda on Monday night. It read, ‘I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Swami Ameyanandji Maharaj, a veteran monk of Ramakrishna Math and Mission and former Principal of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Dhaka. Swami Ameyanandji has made significant contributions in various fields of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. He took over as the Principal of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Dhaka in 2011. His works and teachings will always be remembered by the followers of the monastery and mission. His death created a void in the spiritual world.
