CNG price hiked again in Delhi

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Delhi-NCR by Rs 2.50 per kg. With this increase, the price of CNG in Delhi has now gone up to Rs 66.61 per kg. The price of CNG in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida has been reduced to Rs 69.18 per kg, while in Gurugram it will cost Rs 74.94 per kg.

Petrol prices have been increasing in the last few days. CNG prices have been revised seven times since last month. The price has been increased by Rs 6.6 per kg from April 1 and by around Rs 10 per kg this year. The previous hike was also Rs 2.50 per kg on April 4. On April 1, the retail price of CNG was increased by 80 paise per kg.

The hike in CNG prices has coincided with the increase in the rates of petrol and diesel. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 80 paise per liter, taking the total increase in rates to Rs 10 per liter in the last two weeks.

This increase is due to a jump in gas prices globally. IGL procures natural gas from domestic fields as well as buys imported LNG. LNG in the spot or current market has touched record highs in recent months. This has increased the cost of IGL, necessitating a price hike.
