CM Pinarayi Vijayan said – crisis will deepen in Kerala Congress

Senior CPI(M) leader and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said the crisis in the Congress party in the state was about to deepen even as the KPCC leadership today appeared to be on a ceasefire with its opposition leaders Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala. . A day after two leaders from two factions of the Congress in Kerala lambasted the new leadership over their “arrogant style” of functioning, KPCC chief K Sudhakaran and opposition leader VD Satheesan reached out to them on Saturday. His willingness to discuss all matters.

Sudhakaran, however, warned the leaders involved in the public controversy that such practice would be stopped and a quasi-cadre system would be introduced in the party. He said that if Congress can carry forward the secular mindset, it will be good for the country. Chandy and Chennithala, two Congress stalwarts in Kerala, had recently expressed displeasure over being sidelined in the selection of district Congress chiefs.

Sudhakaran told reporters here, “We are ready for talks. I have already spoken to Oommen Chandy. We are not fighting each other. We are in talks with everyone. But some people have false news. spreading.”

Sources close to the senior Congress leadership said that Satheesan had spoken to Chennithala and offered a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Satheesan said at a party function that Chennithala and Chandy are two senior party leaders and they cannot be ignored.

“If any party worker is upset with the functioning of the Congress or any leader is upset with the party’s decisions, we will talk to them, listen to their grievances and resolve them,” Satisan said. Chandy had told the media earlier in the day that he would cooperate if anyone took the initiative to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, ousted General Secretary of KPCC PS Prashant, who joined CPI(M) on Friday, met the Chief Minister today.

“He (Pacific) agreed to join and work for the CPI(M). He said he wanted to take the side of secularism,” Vijayan said.
