A dispute broke out between people of two communities in Karnataka’s Kerur on Wednesday, in which many people were injured. According to media reports, a dispute started over molesting women. During this, shops of one community were ransacked, while several vehicles were set on fire. At present the situation is under control. Section 144 has been imposed in the city till Friday.

According to media reports, two brothers from one community, Arun and Laxman, from one community started questioning Yasin about molestation of women. There was an altercation between them regarding this matter and a situation of dispute arose.

After this a lot of people from both the communities gathered and the dispute led to a clash in the market. At many places, it was set on fire with sabotage.

During the altercation, Arun and Laxman were stabbed by Yasin’s men, after which both were admitted to the hospital. At present both are out of danger.

Section 144 has been imposed in the city after the violence. Large events and gatherings have been banned. Schools and colleges will also remain closed. At the same time, the police have registered a case and arrested 10 people of both the communities.
