chunky Pandey’s mother Ananya Pandayof grandmother, Snehlata PandayHe died on 10 July due to prolonged illness. Though the demise has left a void in the family, son Chunky has decided to celebrate his life instead of mourning the loss of his mother. ETimes reached out to the actor to learn more about his late mother, and he went down memory lane to share some incredible memories of his beloved mother. Here’s Chunky’s first-person account:

My mother was the backbone of the family and now, at home, it is like a void. This is an inexplicable loss. But I want to celebrate my mother’s life because she lived a great life. My two children, Ananya and scratch He was so close to his grandmother. Since he is young and tender, his demise has really affected him. He is yet to be aware of the fact that he does not have a grandmother. Sometimes, they are uncontrollable, but I try to be strong and make them understand that their grandmother lived a great life and now we have to continue her legacy.

My mother’s journey is inspiring and incredible. She was born with a rare heart defect Pakistan, six or seven years before the India-Pakistan partition; She didn’t have to live beyond the age of 10 or 15, but she actually lived to 85 and how! She was always happy; I have never seen him sad in my life. I found her happy sometimes for no reason but she was a very positive person. I have traveled everywhere with him and I was known as mama’s boy. Usually heroines used to take their mother with them while traveling for movies, I was the only hero who traveled with his mother. And since I didn’t have a stable girlfriend, I used to take my mom everywhere. I’m glad she got to see the world with me. When I was born, she always wanted a daughter and got a son. So till the age of 2, she used to dress me like a girl. I used to wear such lovely earnings and so today when I go shopping, I usually pick up ladies clothes and the shopkeeper asks me whether this is for my wife or my daughter and I say, this is for me. Has (smiling). I was a really naughty kid and I used to annoy my mom a lot as a kid. I remember once I picked up my dad’s razor and shaved my entire face with eyebrows and my mom got scared thinking I had some disease due to which I lost all my facial hair and then she Was very angry with me. I gave him some shocks but he always encouraged me.

I have always seen my mother working. I remember when my younger brother was born, my mother used to practice from home. Her dispensary was in the house, so I used to be a compounder for her, mixing and helping her with everything she needed, and carrying her bag wherever she went for medical visits. Many celebs from the film industry came to her clinic as she was a health practitioner and I was known as Dr Pandey’s naughty son.

I will never forget the incident which gave me the confidence and courage to survive in the industry. There was a talent competition organized by IMPPA, where we had to perform in front of some well-known producers. I attended and went there but when I saw other people performing, they were so good that I panicked. I left that contest and since there were no mobile phones, I called my mom from a public booth and said I couldn’t perform. She told me that if I get away from it today, I will never be an actor in my life. So, I went back to the studio and performed, and I really won. I was about to run home from that contest, but that phone call changed my life. I can never forget that phone call with my mom.
