Slogans of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ were heard at a rally addressed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Pakistan’s Punjab province. According to reports, the rally was being addressed against the expulsion of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, which was attended by thousands at Lal Haveli in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The crowd raised slogans calling the army “chowkidars” and calling them “chor” who was “stealing” Imran Khan’s mandate.

However, in a viral video, former Home Minister Sheikh Rashid was seen trying to stop the protesters from raising slogans against the country’s army.

“Don’t raise slogans…we will fight peacefully,” he said.

Highlighting the midnight decision of the National Assembly, Sheikh Rashid said, “If you want to save your country then decide not in the dark of night but in the light of day.”

“There will be Eid on 29/4. Be ready we will take Jail Bharo Andolan from Lal Haveli everyday. I will take it myself from Karachi,” he said, adding, “He will tell all Sindhis that they (the then opposition) are thieves, cheaters. And there are robbers.”

Voting on the no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan-led PTI government began late on Saturday night in the country’s National Assembly, where 174 members registered their vote in favor of the motion to oust Imran Khan from power.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took out rallies in several cities of the country on Sunday to protest the removal of party president Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister.

The session of the National Assembly to elect a new prime minister will now take place on Monday at 2.00 pm, as opposed to the earlier schedule of 11.00 pm.

The nomination papers of Pakistan’s joint opposition candidate Shahbaz Sharif and PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi have been approved for the Prime Minister’s post.

Shehbaz Sharif is most likely to become the next prime minister of the country.
