Megastar Chiranjeevi’s latest release Waltair Veeraiya has performed exceptionally well at the box office since its release on 13 January. Even though it saw a slight drop in the box office collection on the 7th day, it managed significant numbers at the box office. The film, which released last week on the occasion of Sankranti, has earned over Rs 150 crore worldwide and is all set to emerge as the highest grosser of Chiranjeevi’s career. Now it will be interesting to see how it performs in the second weekend.

In addition, it crossed the $2 million mark at the US box office. Earlier, Chiranjeevi’s Prisoner No. 150 and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy collected US$2 million each. The film made a grand opening of Rs 33 crore on the first day. According to early estimates, the film’s numbers declined on 19 January. On Day 7, Waltair Veeraiya earned around Rs 8 crore.

The film is directed by Bobby Kolli. Besides Chiranjeevi, it stars Shruti Haasan in the lead role, along with Ravi Teja and Catherine Tresa in key roles. Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers produced the venture, with GK Mohan serving as co-producer. The screenplay was written by Kona Venkat and K Chakravarthy Reddy. A major portion of the film was shot in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Malaysia. The soundtrack was composed by Devi Sri Prasad with cinematography by Arthur A. Wilson.
