Chirag Paswan hurt by BJP’s ‘silence’ on LJP coup, ‘not good for Ram…’ urges Modi to intervene

Chirag Paswan, who suffered a humiliating defeat from his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, who replaced him as the national president of the Lok Jan Shakti (LJP) party last week, has reached out to the prime minister. Narendra Modi for intervention.

Chirag had recently described himself as PM Modi’s ‘Hanuman’ during the Bengal assembly elections. He said in an interview to ANI on Wednesday. “Hanuman walked with Lord Ram at every step and in the same way, at every step his party LJP has stood by Narendra Modi ji on every big and small decision. It is not right if Rama remains silent when Hanuman is killed.

He wants BJP to intervene in the matter and resolve the matter. Certainly the silence of the BJP has saddened me. Nevertheless, I would say that I have full faith in the PM that by taking the situation under control, he will definitely intervene to resolve this political issue,” Chirag told ANI.

LJP was founded by late Ram Vilas Paswan but after his death in October last year, the party could not be held together under the leadership of his son Chirag. However, Chirag has announced his ‘Aashirwad Yatra’ from July 5 across Bihar to garner sympathy and public support for him.

Many political analysts believe that Chirag now has to make his way as the head of the LJP. He is also being compared to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, who struggled to rise to the top after his father’s death in 2009.

Jagan, who is currently ruling Andhra Pradesh, was left alone by the Congress after his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy died in a helicopter crash in 2009 – the same year Jagan joined politics. YSR was the Congress Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh until his death, and was serving his second term. Jagan was hopeful that the Congress would make him its successor as Chief Minister, however, the party turned him down and went ahead with K Rosaiah instead.
