China launches emergency response for hurricane-hit areas.

Chinese authorities have launched a Level-IV emergency response for disaster relief as Typhoon In-fa struck the coastal province of Zhejiang.

The response was co-activated by China’s National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) for disaster-hit areas, including Zhoushan, Shaoxing and Ningbo, Xinhua news agency reported.

The ministry said task teams sent earlier to the affected areas will turn into disaster relief forces on the spot to inspect the damage and provide guidance to local departments.

Due to severe flooding in central Henan province, the MEM and the National Food and Strategic Stores Administration on Sunday allocated more disaster-relief supplies to the province.
