China building permanent concrete camps near Sikkim’s Naku La and eastern Ladakh: Report

Amid the ongoing military standoff with India, the Chinese military is building permanent concrete structures along the Line of Actual Control, which will allow its troops to enter disputed areas with India in a short span of time.

Senior government sources told ANI that one such camp is coming up a few kilometers inside Chinese territory opposite the Naku La area in the North Sikkim region, just minutes from the area where Indian and Chinese troops last year. There was a conflict between Started and also in January this year.

Sources said, “The Chinese are building permanent concrete structures that will allow them to deploy troops near the border areas. The road infrastructure is also very good which allows them to be in the border areas with India as compared to the earlier. Will allow you to reach more quickly.”

Sources said that the construction of these hot modern buildings has been seen in the areas of eastern Ladakh as well as in the Arunachal region.

Sources said the buildings will help the Chinese military deal with the problem of making its troops uncomfortable in forward areas during winter. The Chinese troops were extremely uncomfortable during their advance deployment along eastern Ladakh in the extreme winter, forcing them to divert 90 per cent of their manpower from there.

The construction of permanent structures in the border areas also shows the intention of China to stay in the forward places for a long time. The Chinese have separated from the Pangong Lake area and sent troops back to the city of Rutog in their occupied Tibet region. Sources said the Chinese are building infrastructure there as well.

India and China have been at a standoff since last year when the Chinese aggressively moved into Indian territories and got into violent face-offs with Indian security forces. The two sides also clashed in the Galwan Valley, in which many Chinese and Indian soldiers were killed. Although India has announced that it has lost 20 soldiers in the conflict, China is yet to acknowledge the number of its dead soldiers.

There have been many rounds of talks between India and China but the result was nothing special. The Chinese are also dragging their feet to resolve the issues at the friction points and are not committed to resolving the long pending issues.
