If you or your children are going to address an event on the occasion, the five suggestions below will go a long way in improving your speech.

Introduction: After congratulating the students, teachers and guests, let’s start with why Children’s Day is specially celebrated on 14th November and who is Pandit Nehru. Talk about Nehru’s special attachment to children in your speech. Talk about his contribution, also mention his views on the development of children in the speech.

Talk about children’s rights: Emphasize points in the speech that affect children, highlighting the rights and welfare of children. From education to physical and mental health, talk about issues and solutions that ensure a better future for children.

Use short and simple sentences/language: Make sure not to use long sentences and difficult words while preparing the speech. Keep sentences short, use simple words and language so that everyone can understand it. Feel connected with them. Do not keep the speech too long.

Mention examples and anecdotes: You can quote some of the things told about the future of children by prominent personalities like Nehru, Nelson Mandela, APJ Abdul Kalam among others. Quoting such famous people can make your speech quite impressive. The best way to cite anecdotes is to grab the attention of the listeners.

Rehearse before giving a speech: Rehearse well after writing the speech. This can prevent hesitation on stage. It also enhances your speech giving ability, body language and confidence.
