Dr. V Ananth Nageswaran has been appointed as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Union Ministry of Finance. The Finance Ministry said that Dr. Nageswaran has worked as a writer, teacher and consultant. He has taught at several business schools and management institutes in India and Singapore and has published extensively.
Lending to states for power reforms
At the same time, the Finance Ministry said today that the Department of Expenditure has allowed two states to take an additional borrowing of Rs 7,309 crore to carry out prescribed reforms in the power sector. 11 states have claimed additional borrowings based on the reforms undertaken in the power sector.
The Finance Ministry said that Rajasthan has been allowed to borrow an additional Rs 5,186 crore and Andhra Pradesh an additional Rs 2,123 crore as an incentive to initiate the reform process.
