Chhattisgarh Police’s attempt to arrest Zee News anchor Rohit Ranjan

New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Police on Tuesday (July 5) tried to arrest Zee News anchor Rohit Ranjan without informing the UP Police. Rohit Ranjan hails from Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Chhattisgarh Police reached Rohit’s house at around 5.30 am today and tried to arrest him. According to reports, 15 Chhattisgarh Police personnel reached Rohit’s society and snatched the mobile phones of the guards posted at the gate.

Rohit Ranjan took to social media and tweeted in Hindi, “Chhattisgarh Police is standing outside my house to arrest me without informing the local police. Is this legally correct? Ghaziabad Police also tweeted on this. It was written on behalf of the police, “The matter is under the notice of the local police. Police station Indirapuram is on the spot. Action will be taken as per rules.”

An ANI report said that Chhattisgarh Police had reached Rohit Ranjan’s house to arrest him in connection with the FIR registered against him. “He had earlier incorrectly quoted Rahul Gandhi’s video statement and later corrected himself on a TV broadcast.”

It is worth noting that the Ghaziabad Police said that the matter is under the notice of the local police and action will be taken as per rules. This whole incident has raised questions on the working style of Chhattisgarh Police that why did she enter Rohit’s house in civil dress without showing identity card.
