Prime Minister Narendra Modi Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress over his ‘poisonous snake’ remark and said the people of Karnataka will give a befitting reply on May 10, referring to the upcoming assembly elections in the state. PM Modi further said that the Congress is threatening and abusing him because he is fighting corruption in the country.

“Congress hates me because I am fighting against corruption. They are threatening and abusing me. The Congress has a ‘poisonous snake’ theme for this election, they are comparing me with a snake. The people of Karnataka will give him a befitting reply on May 10,” PM Modi said while addressing a public meeting in Kolar, Karnataka.

PM Modi further said, ‘Congress has again started abusing me. They call me ‘snake’ but snake is the necklace of Lord Shiva and for me the people of Karnataka are Shiva. Let them abuse me but this time BJP will again win with absolute majority.

“The snake is the charm of Lord Shiva’s neck. For me, the people of the country are like Lord Shiva and I am his snake who lives with him.”

Speaking in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi earlier this week, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge compared PM Modi to a poisonous snake. “PM Narendra Modi is like a poisonous snake. Now if you want to test any venom because I have compared it to a venomous snake, be careful, it will lead to your death.”

Following the controversy over his ‘snake remark’, Kharge took to Twitter to clarify his stand and said, “My comment is not for PM Modi. I did not attack PM Modi personally but poisoned BJP’s ideology.” Told. I only meant that if anyone touches the ideology of BJP, he will die of poison.

“I have always followed the norms and conventions of political correctness towards friends and foes and will continue to do so till the last breath of my life. Because I don’t make fun of individuals and their problems like people in high positions,” Kharge said.
