The Special Court has convicted two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs – Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal – for assaulting former Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash. However, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 9 other AAP MLAs have been acquitted.

The MLAs who have been acquitted include Nitin Tyagi, Rituraj Govind, Sanjeev Jha, Ajay Dutt, Rajesh Rishi, Rajesh Gupta, Madan Lal, Praveen Kumar and Dinesh Mohaniya.

Accused of assault during meeting held at Kejriwal’s house
This case is related to the assault on Anshu Prakash, who was the Chief Secretary of Delhi in 2018. Anshu Prakash was allegedly attacked during a meeting held at Kejriwal’s house on 19 February 2018. There were 13 accused in this case including Kejriwal and Sisodia.

According to the allegations, Anshu Prakash was misbehaved and thrashed by his MLAs in the presence of Kejriwal. After this the Chief Secretary met the Lieutenant Governor in the night itself and complained about it. Officials said that there was a dispute with the Chief Secretary regarding Kejriwal’s advertisement for 3 years. At the same time, the Kejriwal government said that the dispute was about 2.5 lakh people not getting ration.

There were also allegations that at the behest of Kejriwal, his MLAs started a scuffle with Anshu Prakash. Several media reports also said that the AAP MLA had slapped Anshu Prakash. At the same time, MLA Amanatullah Khan had said that it was the Chief Secretary who started the misbehavior. AAP had also said at that time that the BJP had filed a case by putting pressure on Anshu Prakash.

Claim in chargesheet – AAP leaders hid evidence
In this case, it was claimed in the charge sheet of Delhi Police that Anshu Prakash was attacked under a well-planned conspiracy. It was also said that the AAP leaders had also hidden the evidence. He had disconnected many CCTV connections even before the incident.

Sisodia said – it was a false case
On the decision of the court in this case, Manish Sisodia has said that this is the day of victory of justice and truth. Sisodia said that the court has termed all the allegations as false and baseless. The Chief Minister has been acquitted in this false case. We have already said that the allegations are false. Sisodia has alleged that it was a conspiracy of BJP.
