The Government of India has made a big change in the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students. Now children of people who pick up waste are also included in this.

This change has been made by the Union Ministry of Social and Empowerment, which will continue till the academic session 2025-26. The ministry has also changed the name of the scheme. Now this scheme has been renamed as Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and Others. In this scholarship is given to the students studying in class 9th and 10th of SC category.

The annual income of the parents should not exceed 2.5 lakhs

According to the rules, the annual income of the parents should not exceed 2.5 lakhs to avail scholarship under the scheme. Children of waste pickers will be given this scholarship from class 1 to 10. The annual income of the parents has not been fixed in this category. Students taking advantage of this scheme will not be able to take advantage of any other kind of scholarship.

Children will have to apply afresh for the scheme

For this scheme, students will have to apply afresh on the National Scholarship Portal. The registration forms of students below 18 years of age will be filled by their parents. Along with this, students will have to upload their original educational documents. They have to upload the latest copy of Aadhaar, which is linked with the bank.

Apart from this, Bank Name, Branch Name, IFSC Code will also have to be uploaded. Students who do not have bank accounts can enter the details of their parents’ bank accounts on the portal, but during this time students will have to provide their own Aadhar card. Along with this, they will also have to upload the Bonafide Certificate on the National Scholarship Portal.
