Among the five BJP chief ministers who have been replaced, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s tenure was the shortest. He assumed office on 10 March and resigned on 2 July. He could not even stay in the chair for three months. Tirath was the Lok Sabha MP from Garhwal. It was also claimed that elections were to be held in Uttarakhand after a year. Because of this, the Election Commission was not going to hold by-elections in any assembly seat. If Tirath had remained the Chief Minister, it would have been difficult for him to become a member of the Legislative Assembly. By law he was required to be a member of the Legislative Assembly in any case by 10 September. After Tirath, Pushkar Singh Dhami was made the Chief Minister of the state. Tirath is still a Lok Sabha member.
