A decision has been taken on the new Chief Minister of Gujarat within 24 hours of Vijay Rupani’s resignation. BJP has once again surprised Bhupendra Rajinikanth Patel as the next CM of the state. Surprised because Bhupendra Patel’s name did not appear even once in the race for the post of Chief Minister. Union minister and party observer Narendra Singh Tomar announced his name after the legislature party meeting.

After the BJP Legislature Party meeting, Narendra Singh Tomar told that Vijay Rupani, who resigned from the post of Chief Minister, proposed the name of Bhupendra Bhai Patel. Deputy CM Nitin Patel supported this. After this the legislature party approved Patel’s name. Bhupendra Bhai will soon take oath as the Chief Minister, although he has not given the date of swearing-in.

Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel had defeated Shashikant Vasudevbhai Patel of Congress from Ghatlodiya seat in Ahmedabad district in the 2017 assembly elections. In the 2017 assembly elections, former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel refused to contest the election. After this, Bhupendra Patel was given ticket from Ghatlodiya seat only on the behest of Anandiben. Patel won this election by more than 80 thousand votes. At the time of election, he had given an affidavit that he had assets worth Rs 69 lakh 55 thousand 707.

According to sources, Vijay Rupani was never a permanent CM for Gujarat. His departure was fixed, just the date was not fixed. The date was sealed after the feedback received during the recent secret visit of the Sangh chief. Among the five BJP chief ministers who have been replaced, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s tenure was the shortest. He assumed office on 10 March and resigned on 2 July. He could not even stay in the chair for three months. Tirath was the Lok Sabha MP from Garhwal. It was also claimed that elections were to be held in Uttarakhand after a year. Because of this, the Election Commission was not going to hold by-elections in any assembly seat. If Tirath had remained the Chief Minister, it would have been difficult for him to become a member of the Legislative Assembly. By law he was required to be a member of the Legislative Assembly in any case by 10 September. After Tirath, Pushkar Singh Dhami was made the Chief Minister of the state. Tirath is still a Lok Sabha member.
