A 20-year-old foreign traveler who tested positive for the Omicorn variant on Sunday in Chandigarh tested negative for Covid-19 on the same day, officials said. He arrived from Italy on 22 November and was fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
Officials also said that 7 family contacts of the person who had been quarantined earlier and who had earlier tested negative were quarantined for COVID. Of them, 5 tested positive for Covid-19 after re-testing, one tested negative. Officials are waiting for the results of one more family member.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, a 34-year-old foreign traveler from Ireland has tested positive for the Omicron variant. He had landed at the Mumbai airport, and tested negative for Covid-19.
So, he was allowed to travel and came to Visakhapatnam on 27 November. On re-testing in Vizianagaram, the RT-PCR report was found positive for COVID-19.
