The first day of Chaitra Navratri is of utmost importance as it not only marks the beginning of the nine-day festivities and festivities but also ‘Kalash Sthapana’ is performed on this day. Kalash Sthapana is the day when a separate place is cleaned and established where the idol of Goddess Durga will be kept for the next nine days.
While all the days of Navratri are celebrated by worshiping the forms of Goddess Durga, the first day is kept in preparation for worship.
