chabua: 3-km Radius Of Chabua Iaf Stn Declared No-drone Zone | Guwahati News – Times of India

Dibrugarh: The Dibrugarh deputy commissioner has declared the 3-km radius of the Chabua air force station as a “no-drone zone” due to security concern. The air force station is the country’s easternmost fighter base.
Earlier this week, the group captain and chief administrative officer of the Chabua air force station requested Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu to declare its 3 km radius as “prohibited area for non-conventional aerial object/drones operation”.
Following the request, Pegu on Wednesday issued the order, “I am convinced that an area of 3 km radius from perimeter of IAF base is required to be declared as prohibited area for flying of non-conventional aerial objects/drones operations. Any operation within the area will require explicit permission from concerned authorities and any drone spotted operating near airfield without prior clearance shall be destroyed/confiscated without any liability as per MHA SOP and Drone Rules, 2021. In view of the above the area around 3 km radius from perimeter of the Air Force Station, Chabua may be treated as no drone zone. The order shall come into force with immediate effect.”
