‘Centre will soon deny existence of Covid’: Delhi Health Minister slams govt for oxygen crisis claim

New Delhi: The Centre’s statement in Parliament claiming that there were no deaths of Covid patients due to lack of oxygen during the second wave in the country has created a political storm as the opposition is attacking the government saying that The claims are false.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that all the claims of the Center are false. Asked whether he could disclose the deaths due to lack of oxygen in the national capital, he said he had formed a committee to track the data but the Center disbanded it.

Satyendar Jain further said, “They (Centre) will soon say that there was no COVID-19. If there were no deaths due to lack of oxygen, why were hospitals going to the High Court for shortage? It is completely It is wrong.”

Satyendar Jain said, “We had formed an audit committee for oxygen to provide compensation to the victims, which was stopped by the Center through the LG. The Center is sprinkling salt on the wounds. We ask the LG to allow us to run the committee. Will appeal to give.” .

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also alleged that the Delhi committee which was going to find out the causes of every Covid death was dissolved by the government as the Center wanted to hide the mismanagement done by them due to lack of oxygen.

No deaths reported by states and union territories especially due to lack of oxygen: Center

The Center told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that no death due to lack of oxygen was “specifically reported” by the states and union territories during the second COVID-19 wave in the country.

Responding to a question that a large number of Covid-19 patients died on roads and hospitals due to acute shortage of oxygen during the devastating second wave, Minister of State for Health Bharti Praveen Pawar said that health is a state subject and the state and The Union Territories should regularly report the number of cases and deaths to the Centre.

“Detailed guidelines for reporting of deaths have been issued by the Union Health Ministry to all States and UTs.

“Accordingly, all states and union territories regularly report cases and deaths to the Union health ministry. However, no death has been reported by the states and union territories, especially due to lack of oxygen.
