Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a public sector undertaking, is planning to launch a national program to promote eco-friendly cooking. As part of the programme, the government will provide induction stoves and induction pressure cookers at a subsidized rate.

As per reports, there are still many areas in India where it is difficult to deliver LPG cylinders despite having electricity. This program has been started to solve this problem. The government has decided to give a discount of about 20% to 30% on induction stoves and induction pressure cookers in rural areas as compared to the market rate.

EESL initiative

Meanwhile, EESL is responsible for several programs to promote energy efficiency in the country. These include initiatives such as distribution of LED bulbs, assistance in building energy-efficient structures and installation of smart meters in homes. As a result of these fiery schemes, the government has been able to curb the annual consumption of 52 trillion units of electricity.

India has also reduced its annual electricity demand by about 11,200 MW, thereby reducing carbon emissions by 4.55 tonnes. EESL is credited with single-handedly executing the world’s largest energy-efficient portfolio in various sectors including lighting, buildings, electric mobility, smart meters and agriculture. No other organization has been able to achieve this feat in the energy sector.
