Central government employees: Decision on DA arrears expected this week

A meeting is to be held on June 26 regarding the pending dearness allowance (DA) of central government employees. The meeting will be held between the Ministry of Finance, National Joint Advisory Council of Machinery (JCM) and Department of Personnel and Training. DoPT), as per Zee Business. After this the final decision will be taken on the matter of DA. Central government employees have not got their DA since January 2020. The DA was frozen by the government due to the pandemic situation in the country.

The confusion regarding the calculation of arrear DA is yet to be cleared. The government and employees are expected to arrive at a final concession after their scheduled meeting. The government will give DA for all the months between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021. Speaking about the calculation of DA arrears, Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary-Staff side, National Council of JCM said that the DA arrears of Level 1 employees would be between Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Meanwhile, for Level 14 employees, according to Zee Business, the DA dues could range between Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2, 18,200.

This amount will be given in three installments as per the Seventh Pay Commission. According to a source close to Zee Business, three installments will be given in the months of July, August and September. The source also informed that the DA for June 2021 may be announced between October and December. In the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum salary of an employee of the Central Government has been fixed at Rs 18,000, on this amount 15 percent DA is expected. Sources have also told that in the DA of June 2021, an increase of 4 percent is expected in the DA.

Meanwhile, there is another good news for the central government employees as the government has now extended the deadline for submission of traveling allowance claims on retirement to 180 days. Earlier its time period was 60 days. The order in this regard has become effective from June 15. It is to be noted that there is no change in the time limit for submission of TA claims for training, transfer and tour. In this case it will continue for 60 days.
