Center to pay PF of employees who lost jobs, but called again in small-scale jobs by 2022

Lucknow: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said the Center will pay the Employer’s as well as Employee’s Provident Fund (PF) portion by 2022 for those who had lost their jobs but formally joined small-scale jobs. Sitharaman said that if more than 25,000 migrant workers working in the informal sector in a district return to their native places, they will get the benefit of 16 central schemes for employment.

“In 2020, we (MGNREGA) increased the budget of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act from Rs 60,000 crore to about Rs one lakh crore,” ANI quoted Sitharaman as saying.

The provisional payroll data of EPFO ​​(Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) released on Friday highlighted the rising trend with 12.83 lakh net payroll additions during the month of June this year.

“With respect to payroll data, the impact of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic subsided during June 2021, leading to a tremendous increase in net payrolls as compared to April and May 2021,” the Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a release.

“Month-on-month analysis reveals an additional 5.09 lakh increase in net subscribers during June, 2021 as compared to the previous month of May, 2021,” the release said.

EPFO provides provident fund, pension benefits to the members on their retirement and family pension and insurance benefits to their families in case of untimely death of the member.
