Center to launch ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ mega Covid-19 vaccine drive today. check details

New Delhi: The Center will launch its mega Covid-19 ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign against Covid-19 on the occasion of Dhanvantari Diwas on Tuesday. The door-to-door immunization drive will be carried out for a month and aims at full immunization in the poor performing districts.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya earlier while giving information about the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign said that it was an effort by the Center to promote vaccination. Mandaviya said, “We are going to launch a mega vaccination campaign ‘Har Ghar Dastak’.

“We have decided that for the next one month, health workers will go door-to-door to vaccinate those eligible for the second dose and those who do not,” Mandaviya said.

According to the minister, 77 per cent people in India have been vaccinated against the deadly disease with the first dose while 32 per cent have got both the jobs.

The minister said, ‘More than 10 crore people have not taken the second dose of the vaccine. “Those who are eligible for a second dose should get the vaccine,” he said. Emphasizing on the need to speed up vaccination and boost coverage, the Minister said that there are more than 10.34 crore people in the country who have not taken the second dose after the stipulated interval.

With new cases of Covid-19 cases being reported in several countries, the need to intensify the vaccination campaign in India to reduce the severity has become critical.

India continues to decline with 12,514 Covid 19 cases, 12,718 recoveries and 251 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry. Kerala has registered a slight decline in the number of Covid cases as the state recorded 7,167 fresh COVID-19 cases and 167 related deaths in the last 24 hours. The daily surge in cases raised the caseload to 49,68,657 and fatalities to 31,681.
