Center committed to maintain peace in Northeast region, says NEDA Convenor and Assam Chief Minister Sarma

The Central Government is committed to the peace of the North-East region, and in particular Nagaland, in line with the vision of the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah said North-Eastern Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma during his day-long visit to Nagaland’s Dimapur.

Assam Chief Minister Sarma held several meetings with his Nagaland counterpart Neiphu Rio, party legislators and members of the non-opposition government in the state. One of the most important meetings that Sarma held today was with National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IN) chief T Muivah. Sources aware of the developments told News18 that the meeting was “very positive”.

Sources also said that AK Mishra, a special director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and central government-appointed interlocutor, also met Muivah in Chumoukedima.

This group of NSCN(IN) has held more than 80 meetings since August 1997 to approve its 31 demands including a separate flag and separate constitution.

“In what capacity will the Chief Minister of Assam speak to the NSCN (IM)? As Chief Minister, can he hold talks without taking the Assembly and the Cabinet into confidence?” Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Bora targeted the Assam CM.

According to sources, Hemant was sent by the central government as the convener of NEDA and not as the CM of Assam. Departing from Delhi after meeting Shah on Monday night, Himanta had said that he would visit Nagaland on Tuesday and he was being sent to the post of NEDA chief.

“The Congress party is forgetting its history- in the past several CMs of Assam have played a vital role in resolving conflicts in the region. This is not a new thing! Those working for peace and resolving long-standing conflicts should be commended. Those who are against peace may be upset as they want there to be turmoil in the region,” said Nagaland BJP MLA and national spokesperson Mahonlumo Kikon on the Congress’s allegations.

Discussing with the NDA MLAs, Himanta stressed on the importance of such an alliance and what it means to pursue it in the upcoming elections. It was also pointed out that as head of government, Rio has the authority to make decisions that are in the best interest of all and that his decisions need to be respected.

Sources also say that it was informed through all-party leaders that the decision to form a United Democratic Alliance government in the state, which meant that there was no opposition, would go a long way in resolving the state’s problems. Area. Himanta also told that the central government has given its approval to this government without opposition.

Others present in today’s meeting include Himanta Biswa Sarma and Neiphiu Rio, CM of Nagaland, BJP State President of Nagaland, President with Temjen Imna, Deputy CM Y Patton, Mamhonlumo Kikon, BJP MLA, Kaito Sema NDPP Minister, Chingwang Konyak – NDPP President, Imkong Imcheon.
