Center allocated Rs 500 crore for modernization of rural infrastructure of Goa: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with the beneficiaries of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa’ programme. During his interaction, PM Modi said that the central government has allocated Rs 500 crore to the state for modernization of Goa.

PM Modi was quoted by ANI as saying, “The budget allocated for modernization of rural infrastructure in Goa has been increased by 5 times. The central government has allocated Rs 500 crore for rural infrastructure in Goa.”

He further said that the infrastructure development project in rural Goa would help in increasing the wages of farmers, cattle ranchers and fishermen.

PM Modi said, “The infrastructure being developed in Goa will also help in increasing the income of farmers, livestock farmers and fishermen. This year the fund for modernization of rural infrastructure in Goa has been increased five times as compared to earlier. ” .

Virtually addressing the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa’ programme, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on behalf of the state congratulated India for successfully administering 100 crore Covid-19 vaccination doses.

“We have given a boost to agriculture, horticulture sector in the state. We have ensured that people get the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, farmer loans here,” Sawant said.

PM Modi also lauded the development projects in Goa, saying: “When we get the support of the government and the hard work of the people, how does change come, how does self-confidence come, we all saw this during our discussions with the beneficiaries. Experienced Swayampurna Goa.”

The Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa scheme was launched on 1 October last year with an aim to make villages self-reliant. This program is inspired by the Prime Minister’s proclamation of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The program aims to focus on agriculture, animal husbandry, youth and adolescents, senior citizens, women and self-help groups, tourism, fisheries, natural resources, various schemes and their convergence and general good governance.

Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa scheme, a state government official is appointed as a “Swayam Purna Mitra”. This friend visits a designated municipality or panchayat, interacts with people, coordinates with several government departments, and ensures that various government schemes and benefits are available to eligible beneficiaries.

The scheme was put on hold from May 2021 due to rising Covid cases and resumed in July 2021.
