central bureau of investigation (CBI) has summoned former Zonal Director, Mumbai NCB Sameer Wankhede to appear before them tomorrow (May 18). The probe agency has directed him to appear at the CBI Mumbai office in connection with the corruption case in the drugs cruise case of star kid Aryan Khan.
A case has been registered against Wankhede and four others
Earlier, the CBI had registered a corruption case against IRS officer Sameer Wankhede and others. On May 12, a search operation was conducted at 29 places including Mumbai, Ranchi, Kanpur, Delhi. Sameer Wankhede and 4 others were booked under sections of Prevention of Corruption and IPC.
He demanded bribe in lieu of settling the case number 94/2021 registered by NCB
After investigation, the vigilance team of NCB requested the CBI to investigate the matter. Investigation revealed that the Zonal Director, Mumbai NCB and other accused had demanded bribe and also taken some money in lieu of settling Case No. 94/2021 registered by NCB.
Sameer Wankhede, former Mumbai zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), came into limelight in October 2021 following a high-profile raid on a Mumbai cruise by the NCB, following which the agency arrested actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. And claimed to have seized 19 others and some narcotics as well. NCB later gave a clean chit to Aryan Khan.
Wankhede demanded Rs 25 crore
The CBI in its FIR has alleged that Wankhede and others demanded Rs 25 crore and extorted Rs 50 lakh in the Cordelia Cruz Aryan Khan case.
Earlier, the Thane police had registered an FIR against former Mumbai zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Sameer Wankhede, for alleged forgery in connection with a license he had procured for a bar and hotel he owned in Navi Mumbai.
Wankhede, who is facing probe for allegedly submitting fake caste certificate to get a government job, was given a clean chit by the Caste Inquiry Committee.
