CBI raids several RJD leaders in land-for-job scam: Top developments | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday conducted searches at the residences of several RJD leaders in Patna and elsewhere in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. The teams eventually left the residences after 11 hours.
The CBI raids happened on the day Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance proved its majority in the Bihar assembly. The RJD is the largest party in the grand alliance.
It has been alleged that aspirants were given Railway jobs in return for land during Prasad’s tenure as railway minister. Prime properties in different cities were later taken over by several shell companies allegedly linked to Lalu’s family.

The CBI alleged that job aspirants either sold or gifted their land in Patna to Lalu’s immediate kin, while a private company controlled by the family was involved in transfer of immovable properties in the name of the family members.
The case was registered on May 18 against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, in addition to 12 people who were given jobs in Railway zones of Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hajipur in 2008-09, the officials said.
