#Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has directed the CBI to investigate cases of murder, rape and attempt to rape in the state of West Bengal in the aftermath of the post-poll violence. Following the High Court’s order on Thursday, CBI officers from Delhi and Kolkata held a high-level meeting. The CBI director held a meeting with the legal team after receiving the court’s 124-page judgment copy.

According to sources in the central agency, many important steps have been taken in the meeting. Four special teams have been constituted as per the court order and the context and importance of the investigation. It is learned that each of the four special investigation teams will have 7-8 officers.

Apparently, a special unit with a total of 30 skilled officers has been formed to look into the allegations of post-poll violence in Bengal. A Joint Director will be in charge of investigating all the functions of this particular unit. This means there are four joint directors for four teams. Investigating officers will soon talk to the ‘victims’ on behalf of each team. Special team will inspect the spot and check everything. After that, he will prepare a preliminary report and give it to the Joint Director. That report will go to Delhi. After further instructions, the investigators will call the accused at the CBI office and start taking statements and will take further action accordingly.

On Thursday, a five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court directed the formation of a seat or special investigation team of CBI and state police officers in the aftermath of the post-poll violence. Under this, this time the CBI has started investigation.
