Police teams have been formed and the accused’s last location has been tracked to Kalyan, where he alighted from a local train.
Vasai government railway police (GRP) officials said the couple, who spoke in Hindi, were seen loitering at the Vasai road station from Sunday morning. In the afternoon, the couple had even fought and the woman had borrowed the cellphone of a cleaner and dialed a number. Police have obtained details of the number on which the woman had made the call.
The horrifying incident captured on the closed circuit television (CCTV) shows the woman, in her late 20s, sleeping on platform number 5 along with her two children. At around 4am, the man is seen standing on the platform and looking in the direction of the train. When he sees a train at a distance, he wakes up his wife, makes a walk a few steps and throws her in front of the speeding Avadh express train when it enters the platform at around 4.10am.

The footage shows him picking up his backpack, waking up his sleeping children. He picks up one of the children, aged around 2, and holds the hand of the other boy, aged around 5 and flees, even as the train is passing on the station.
Sandeep Bhajibhakre, DCP, WR, GRP said that while the names of the couple have not been ascertained, they have managed to track down the accused’s movement. “He has been seen boarding the train till Dadar and then travelling till Kalyan. From there he has taken an auto,” said Bhajibhake, who said the accused will be arrested soon. The statement of the loco pilot has been recorded.
