“But we cannot close the tourist places because people have suffered a lot due to the pandemic in the last 18 months,” Somashekar told reporters. “We need to regulate the flow of visitors to temples and tourist places. We need to curb crowding in these places. We will discuss the measures and take a decision after meeting senior officials and elected representatives on Saturday.
He said that they have tracked the COVID related incidents in the district for the last 10 days and are monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, in neighboring Kodagu district, Minister Kota Srinivasa Pujari, who held a review meeting at Madikeri, directed the district officials to stop the entry of travelers into the district. He directed the police to increase vigil at the checkposts.
