Capturing Human Nature Of Greed On Canvas | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: An untitled drawing featuring a clown faced human, a groundnut plant and a few beetles piques the curiosity of the visitors. The clown faced human is deliberately forgetting the fact that the beetles are also inheritors for the ground nut. The drawing apparently depicts the invading nature of humans on each and every component of nature.
Here, the plant symbolizes anything which is being invaded by humans. This is part of the drawings by Babitha Rajiv at her solo exhibition named “The Quest for Blue Flower”. Here, the blue flower symbolizes the desires in one’s mind.
The artist has unfolded different human natures, including invading, selfishness, helplessness and a lot more through her 37 untitled drawings. In all the drawings, the humans were portrayed as clowns with red noses and baggy clothes as the characters imagined by the artist.
The drawings portray the attempts made by humans to reach the destination and the probability of achievement and failure of the attempt. In order to bring uniformity in all the pictures, the artist has used the color blue in every drawing.
The art story which narrates the story of greed of humans is another work. It is drawn in three different canvases as a series of stories. It portrays a boat full of blue flowers floating in the sky and four clown-faced humans sitting on zebras trying to get the flowers even though the flowers are available on the ground.
“I was not a person who took art seriously. Later, when I quit my job, I was able to spend some time on art. This is my fifth solo exhibition. I am leaving the messages and the theme of my drawings to the viewers; each person will connect the scenes with their life and will surely have multiple interpretations of each element,” said Babitha Rajiv, the artist.
The expo is being conducted by Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan, It will conclude on March 1.
