Can’t Find the Recycle Bin on Your Windows Desktop? Do not panic, follow these measures

It’s been around for a long time. The familiar Recycle Bin is sitting on your Windows desktop. Since Windows 95, the Recycle Bin has always been a standard feature of the operating system. It’s a garbage management system that allows you to delete files you no longer need, but also to take a quick look at what you’re actually deleting. The Recycle Bin icon is typically found on the top-left corner of the desktop, among other constants such as ‘My Computer’ and ‘Start’. Sometimes, the icon is not visible on the desktop, and users rarely know how to get it back. But don’t worry, because there are several ways to access the Recycle Bin.

– Click on the window search bar at the bottom left of the desktop.

– Type ‘recycle bin’ in the search box.

– Select ‘Recycle Bin’ from the displayed search results.

– Run command dialog box

– Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard to open the Run command dialog box.

– Dialog box will appear. Type ‘shell:RecycleBinFolder’ in the search bar and press Enter.

– Recycle Bin will open on the screen.

– To access the Recycle Bin, click the ‘Start’ button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

– From the options, locate Recycle Bin and click to launch the feature.

– If the Recycle Bin doesn’t appear in the Start menu, you can add it like this:

– In the windows search bar, and type ‘recycle bin’.

– Press ‘Enter’ and search results will appear.

– Right-click on the Recycle Bin icon and select ‘Pin to Start’. You can now access the Recycle Bin from the Start menu.

– Open File Explorer via Windows Search Bar or Start Menu.

After opening, right click on an empty space in the File Explorer window.

– In the menu that appears, select ‘Show All Folders’. You will see a full list of files, including the Recycle Bin.

– Select Recycle Bin option.

Another option for accessing the Recycle Bin through File Explorer is the address bar. In the address bar, click the right-facing arrow on the far left of the bar. The arrow becomes a down-pointing arrow with a list of options. In the list, select Recycle Bin.

– Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard to access the Run command dialog box.

– Type ‘CMD’ in the dialog box and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. This will open an elevated command prompt.

– Once the Command Prompt appears on the screen, type ‘Start Shell: RecycleBinFolder’ and press Enter.

Follow the steps mentioned above, but instead of typing ‘CMD’ type ‘PowerShell’. Rest of the steps are same.

– On the desktop, right-click anywhere in a blank area. A menu appears.

– In the menu, select ‘View’.

– In the side menu that appears, tick the option ‘Show desktop icons’.

deactivate tablet mode

Tablet mode, though handy, can hide your desktop icons, including the Recycle Bin. To deactivate it, if you’re in tablet mode, go to the system notification icon at the bottom-right of the desktop. Locate the Tablet Mode button. If the button color is blue, the system is in tablet mode. Click on it to switch it back to the desktop.
