New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will not be able to return today as his plane suffered a technical glitch on Sunday. In such a situation, the Canadian delegation will have to stay in India until the engineering team resolves this problem.
PM Trudeau came to India with his delegation to participate in the G20 Summit. According to reports, the Canadian delegation will now fly from New Delhi on Monday morning.
As per reports in the media, PM Trudeau, his delegation, and media persons were scheduled to fly home on Sunday night. Shortly before departure, the Canadian Armed Forces discovered a technical problem with the aircraft that could not be fixed overnight.
The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement, said, ”Upon arrival at the airport, we were informed by the Canadian Armed Forces that CFC001 has encountered a technical problem. The damage that has occurred cannot be rectified overnight. In such a situation, until alternative arrangements are made, our delegation will remain in India.”
This is not the first incident that there has been a glitch with the plane carrying Trudeau and his delegation. Earlier, in October 2016, a similar problem had occurred due to which Trudeau had to return to Ottawa 30 minutes after takeoff. He was heading to Belgium to attend the signing of the Canada-Europe Free Trade Agreement.
Earlier in the day, bilateral talks took place between PM Modi and the Canadian Prime Minister. According to information, Modi informed him about India’s strong concerns about the anti-India activities of extremist elements who are promoting separatism. They are also inciting violence against diplomats and threatening the Indian community there.
