Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finished third in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. Even though RCB had a good season, many of their top stars did not perform consistently. Recently, former India Cricketer Aakash Chopra reviews RCB’s performance IPL 2022 on his youtube channel.
Aakash Chopra is of the opinion that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) should consider releasing Siraj in the IPL 2023 auction. It is worth noting that Siraj was retained by RCB for Rs 7 crore before the mega auction earlier this year. Chopra believes that RCB can buy back the fast bowler at a cheaper price.
“Mohammed Siraj was retained for seven crores. You can release him. If you release him, who will you get is a big question because you have to bring in an Indian bowler. You can actually buy him back cheaper, he will no longer be sold for seven crores,” Chopra was quoted as saying.

“You have an overseas bowler in Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel has done very well, Akash Deep was not too bad in the beginning. You wanted to catch him (Siraj), I thought it was a good idea but the season has not been good”, Chopra said.
Mohammad Siraj had the worst IPL season among all the main players of RCB. The 28-year-old took just nine wickets in 15 matches at a costly economy rate of 10.07. Siraj now holds the embarrassing record of hitting most sixes (31) on any bowler in the history of IPL.
Aakash Chopra said that RCB may release Anuj Rawat as well, as the franchise already had a fixed opening pair.
Aakash Chopra said, “Anuj Rawat, you spent 3.4 crores on him. He played a good innings and after that you didn’t play him. Anuj Rawat is not going to open, Faf and Kohli are going to open so Anuj Rawat Can release 3.4 crores. It is already 10 and a half crores.”
The popular commentator also said that RCB may let Sherfane Rutherford and David Willey go as they cannot be used properly. Once Glenn Maxwell and Hazlewood were available for selection, Rutherford and Willie were sidelined by RCB.
