CAA: Taliban-controlled CAA writes to DGCA to resume commercial flights between India and Afghanistan – Times of India

New Delhi: Taliban controlled Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has written to the Indian aviation regulator DGCA To resume commercial flights between countries.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is yet to take a decision in this matter.
The last commercial flight between India and Afghanistan was operated by Air India on 15 August on the Kabul-Delhi route. Accept fell for Taliban. Afghanistan’s airspace was declared “uncontrolled” by the CAA on 16 August.
CAA’s caretaker minister Alhaj Hamidullah in a letter dated September 7, 2021 Akhunzada Requested DGCA to allow commercial flights of Ariana Afghan Airline and Kama Air between India and Afghanistan.
Akhunzada said in his letter: “As you are well informed that Kabul airport was recently damaged and (left) disabled by US troops prior to their withdrawal.”
He said that with the help of technical assistance by Qatar, the airport was once again operational and a NOTAM (notice to airmen) in this regard was issued on 6 September.
“The intention of this letter is to maintain the smooth movement of passengers between the two countries based on the signed MoU and our national carriers (Ariana Afghan Airline and Kama Air) aim to resume their scheduled flights,” he said.
Therefore, the Afghanistan CAA requests you to facilitate their commercial flights, Akhunzada said.
“The civil aviation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan takes advantage of its highest assurances,” he said.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on 20 September that as a neighbor of Afghanistan, India is naturally concerned about the recent changes in that country and their implications for the region.
They demanded that Afghan territory should not be used for harboring, training, planning or financing terrorist activities.
