Earlier, M S Dhoni Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad shared an 86-run partnership after winning the toss and electing to bat. While Gaikwad departed after scoring 37, Shivam Dube joined Conway and scored 28 himself, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali scored 12 and 10 respectively, but Dhoni scored 13 off only 4 balls to take CSK to 200. When Conway was asked whether he had any regrets after missing out on a century, he said, “100 per cent man.”

“It was pretty special to be there after two MS sixes when he went over the rope,” said the CSK opener.
