New Delhi: Counting of votes is underway for the by-elections held on October 30 to three Lok Sabha and 30 assembly seats in 14 states. Many big political parties are in the fray and these by-elections will also indicate the mood of the people.
The seats where Lok Sabha bypolls were held include Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. Of the 30 constituencies, five are in Assam, four in West Bengal, three each in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, two each in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland. West Bengal
With the counting of votes for the by-election to West Bengal’s Gosaba assembly seat starting on Tuesday, initial trends are showing Trinamool. Congress (TMC) is leading in all the four assembly seats.
After polling for four assembly seats in West Bengal on October 30, the results of the bypolls for these constituencies- Dinhata, Khardaha, Gosaba (SC) and Shantipur will be declared today.

Assam
Counting of votes is underway in two of the five seats, according to which the ruling BJP candidates are leading in the Bhabnipur and Thaura assembly by-elections in Assam.
BJP’s Phanidhar Talukdar is leading over his nearest rival Congress’s Shailendra Nath Das in Bhabnipur by 7,839 votes, according to the Election Commission website. In Thaura seat, BJP candidate Sushant Borgohain was leading by 2,524 votes over independent candidate Dhaijya Konwar.
The seats of Gosaigaon and Tamulpur fell vacant after the death of the sitting MLAs.
Karnataka
Counting of votes is underway for Sindgi and Hangal assembly constituencies in Karnataka. According to the initial trends, BJP and Congress are leading in one seat each.
An estimated 69.47 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Sindgi assembly constituency, while it was 83.76 per cent in Hangal constituency. A total of 19 candidates are in the fray in the two constituencies, including six from Sindgi and 13 from Hangal.
A state in Eastern India
Counting of votes was going on for two assembly seats in Bihar on Tuesday. According to early trends, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are leading in one seat each.
A total of 17 candidates are in the fray for the two seats – eight in Tarapur and nine in Kusheshwar Asthan.
Telangana
Counting of votes for the by-election to Huzurabad Assembly Constituency in Telangana.
According to the initial trends, BJP’s Eatala Rajender is leading by a margin of 166 votes. Officials said that the counting of votes will take place in 22 rounds.
Haryana
INLD General Secretary Abhay Singh Chautala is leading by a margin of 478 votes over his nearest rival BJP’s Gobind Kanda in Haryana’s Ellenabad assembly constituency.
There are 19 candidates in the fray, including Chautala, Congress candidate Pawan Beniwal and JJP-backed BJP candidate Gobind Kanda. Haryana Lokhit Party chief and MLA Gopal Kanda’s brother Gobind Kanda joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last month.
Himachal Pradesh
As per the trends available for the bypolls, Congress is leading in Mandi parliamentary seat of Himachal Pradesh and three assembly seats of Fatehpur, Arki and Jubai-Kothkai.
Late Chief Minister in Mandi parliamentary constituency Virbhadra SinghCongress’s wife Pratibha Singh is leading by 1,316 votes over her nearest rival BJP’s Kargil war hero Brigadier (retd) Khushal Thakur.
Congress’s Rohit Thakur (2,825) is leading by 248 votes over his nearest rival Chetan Singh Bragta (2577), a rebel BJP candidate after the second round of counting in Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly seat, as an independent. contesting elections.
Madhya Pradesh
After the first round of counting on Tuesday, the BJP is leading in all four seats – three in the Vidhan Sabha and one in the Lok Sabha.
BJP’s candidate from Khandwa Lok Sabha seat, Dnyaneshwar Patil has got 16,984 votes as against 11,264 of Congress’ Raj Narayan Purni.
From Raigon, BJP candidate Pratima Bagari bagged 5,973, while Congress candidate Kalpana Verma by 5,754 votes.
Rajasthan Rajasthan
As per available trends, Congress candidates Nagraj Meena and Preeti Shaktawat are leading in Dhariyawad and Vallabhnagar assembly constituencies of Rajasthan.
Nagraj Meena is leading over BJP candidate Khet Singh Meena in Dhariawad by a margin of 1,185 votes.
In Vallabhnagar, Shaktawat is ahead of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) candidate Udailal Dangi by a margin of 1,269 votes.
Maharashtra
Congress candidate Jitesh Raosaheb Antapurkar is leading over BJP’s Subhash Pirajirao Sabne by 2293 votes in Maharashtra’s Deglur (SC) assembly by-election after the first round of counting.
The constituency is in Nanded district, from where state Public Works Department minister Ashok Chavan resides.
BJP has fielded former Shiv Sena MLA Sabne.
Mizoram
Mizo National Front is leading in 1 seat in Mizoram.
The by-election for the Tuiriyal assembly constituency in Kolasib district bordering Assam was held after the death of sitting MLA of the Zoram People’s Movement, Andrew H. Thangliana.
Meghalaya
According to the website of the Election Commission of India, Meghalaya’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is leading in Mawringneng assembly seat, where counting of votes was underway on Tuesday.
Pinaid Singh Siem of NPP is leading over his nearest rival Highlander Kharmalki of Congress by 1547 votes.
The United Democratic Party (UDP) is leading in the Mawphlang constituency, where its candidate Eugeneson Lindoh was ahead of Congress’ Kennedy Cornelius Khairim by 814 votes.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli
Former MP Mohan Delkar’s wife and Shiv Sena candidate Kalaben Delkar, who allegedly committed suicide in the first hour of counting of votes for the Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha seat, took a lead of over 4,000 votes.
The by-election had to be held due to the death of Independent MP Mohan Delkar.
Mohan Delkar, who won the 2019 election by defeating then BJP MP Natubhai Patel by a margin of 9,001 votes, allegedly hanged himself in a Mumbai hotel on February 22, 2021.
Andra Pradesh
The YSR Congress has fielded his wife Dasari Sudha after the death of MLA Gunthoti Venkat in the by-election to Andhra Pradesh’s Badwal seat. Rival TDP fielded a candidate who, however, chose not to contest. Even though other parties have fielded candidates, the absence of a TDP challenge will work to the advantage of the ruling YSRC.
After five rounds of counting YSRCP Candidate Dr. D. Sudha is leading by over 40,000 votes. BJP candidate Panathala Suresh is second in the race.
