Bus contract workers’ strike in Punjab has been postponed. He had announced the closure of the bus stand for 4 hours from 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday. Earlier in Chandigarh, he met Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Vading. The minister got him to talk to the CM on the phone. After which the strike was postponed. Now the movement of buses has started from inside the bus stand. This has brought great relief to the troubled passengers.

The striking employees of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS and PRTC had earlier also met Transport Minister Raja Vading. In which he was given the time of today i.e. Wednesday. However, CM Charanjit Channi suddenly had to go to Delhi. Now he is going on a tour of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh with Rahul Gandhi. Because of this, this meeting can now be held on October 12.

Outside depot buses will run from outside
Gurpreet Singh said that buses will not be allowed inside the bus stand. However, buses from Chandigarh or other outstation depots can come and go during this period. They will have to drop and board the passengers outside the bus stand. He said that during this time the employees will also protest by closing the gates of the bus stand.

Amarinder changed before the demand was met
The contract bus workers had earlier also observed a 10-day strike. Captain Amarinder Singh was the Chief Minister then. At that time it was agreed that the wages of the striking workers would be increased by 30%. Apart from this, their salary will increase by 5% every year. It was not even notified and Amarinder Singh stepped down from the CM’s chair. The Amarinder government had also assured them to confirm it within a week. After that their demands also got stalled in the discord of Punjab Congress.

2 thousand buses running 8 thousand employees
Roadways, PUNBUS and PRTC buses in Punjab rely on contract employees. At present there are 8 thousand employees on contract in Punjab, who are running about 2 thousand buses. They are demanding to be confirmed on the job on behalf of the government. Apart from this, along with bringing a new fleet of buses, they are demanding to put back the employees who were dismissed in sporadic cases. During the previous government, he also had to gherao the Siswan Farm House, the house of the Captain. After which the government agreed to their demands.
